Peace Education Summit: Visioning Paths to Our One Humanity

WHEN:

September 15-20th 2018

WHERE:

Oświęcim, Poland

In September 2018, during the week of the United Nations’ International Day of Peace, the One Humanity Institute invited a selected group of 30 international changemakers to an educational summit and collaborative gathering in Oświęcim.

With this invitation we launched the first design phase to create a global educational center within the One Humanity Institute to illustrate the know-how and reveal heart-centered pathways to an era of mutual caring.

During the summit, the concept of diverse educational experiences and programs was kick-started, including trainings, university level courses, workshops and all kinds of transformational experiences that will inspire thousands of people to alter attitudes and behaviors and commit to work on behalf of peace and sustainability.

Included in the gathering was a personalized tour of Auschwitz, meetings with local officials, and a joining together with global educators from Poland as well as from around the world. It was a once in a lifetime experience and laid the foundation for our future as we work toward a goal of raising 200 million dollars for various projects.

The design for the OHI Education Center is to offer structured learning opportunities for young people and adults. The opportunities will revolve around the 17 U.N. Sustainable Goals, inter- and intra-faith studies, intercultural understanding and cooperation, conflict resolution and trans-rational problem solving, reconciliation, entrepreneurial social impact projects and leadership skills to empower individuals, groups, and communities – locally and globally.

Hence, the purpose of the One Humanity Education Center is to harvest the wisdom of diverse cultures and beliefs by bringing leading scholars, institutions and youth together, building awareness, and educating for peace, social justice, and equity. We are seeking to build the Educational Center of the future. We envision a facility that will hold co-working spaces designed to facilitate collaboration and best approaches to learn from each other within a context of a shared mission.
